Kate M. Benson

Kate Benson’s focus is family law.  Family law consists of Divorce, Custody, Child Support, Adoption and negotiating parenting time agreements.  Kate also conducts family law mediations.  Kate also enjoys preparing estate plans and assisting clients with the probate process after they have lost a loved one.

Kate is a people person who has guided many clients through some of the most difficult times in their lives.  Although the subject matter of her work is often complex and emotionally difficult, she prides herself in helping her clients make wise decisions amidst all of the emotion.  Kate has more than two decades of legal experience.  She finds great satisfaction in advocating for her clients so that they can get the best possible outcome in their case.

Kate graduated cum laude from the University of Southern Indiana in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree.  She graduated from the University of South Dakota Law School in 2002.  Kate is licensed in state and federal court in South Dakota.

Kate and her husband, Brian, were both born and raised in Watertown.  They have three daughters.  In her free time Kate enjoys spending time on Lake Kampeska, listening to live music and traveling with her family.
